Azure Admin Resource
Manager
Azure Admins are professionals responsible for
managing and overseeing Microsoft Azure, a cloud computing platform. Their role
includes creating and organizing resources in Azure, deploying and configuring
virtual machines, databases, and other services, and ensuring the efficient
operation of cloud environments. They use Azure Resource Manager
to control and monitor resources, assign access permissions through Role-Based
Access Control (RBAC), and employ automation tools to streamline tasks. Azure Resource Manager (ARM) is the deployment and management
service for Microsoft Azure, Microsoft's cloud computing platform. It provides
a way to organize and manage resources within your Azure environment,
such as virtual machines, storage accounts, databases, and more. ARM allows you
to create, update, and delete resources, as well as define dependencies between
resources to ensure proper provisioning and configuration.

Resource
Groups:
Resources in Azure are
organized into logical containers called resource groups. Resource groups allow
you to manage and monitor related resources as a single unit.
Templates: ARM uses JSON-based
templates to define and deploy Azure resources. These templates are known as
Azure Resource Manager templates or ARM templates. They provide a declarative
way to specify the resources you need, their configuration, and any
dependencies between them.
Deployment
Model:
ARM supports two
deployment models: Resource Manager and Classic. The Resource Manager model is
the recommended approach, as it offers more advanced management and control
features compared to the Classic model.
Resource
Providers:
Azure Resource Manager is
extensible through resource providers. Each resource type (e.g., virtual
machines, storage accounts, databases) is provided by a specific resource
provider. These providers are responsible for handling the creation, updating,
and deletion of resources of a particular type. Azure Admin Online Training
Role-Based Access Control
(RBAC):
ARM uses RBAC to manage
access to Azure resources. You can assign different roles to users or groups,
granting them specific permissions to perform actions on resources.
Tags: You can assign metadata to resources
using tags, making it easier to categorize, track, and manage resources within
your subscription.
Deployment
Options:
ARM provides options for
deploying resources, including the Azure Portal, Azure PowerShell, Azure CLI, and
Azure DevOps
(formerly known as Visual Studio Team Services or VSTS).
Resource
Locks:
You can apply locks to
resource groups or individual resources to prevent accidental deletion or
modification. There are two types of locks: delete and read-only.
Templates
and Automation: ARM
templates enable Infrastructure as Code (IaC) practices, allowing you to
automate the deployment and management of resources. Tools like Azure DevOps, Terraforming,
and Ansible can be used in conjunction with ARM templates
to automate and manage infrastructure.
By using Azure Resource Manager, you can create, manage, and
scale your Azure resources efficiently, making it an essential part of Azure's
infrastructure management and governance. Azure Training
